Amby Retail Corporation’s hiring process is designed to ensure the safest individuals are hired to operate our commercial motor vehicles. This process shall be used for all applicants and will be administered uniformly without bias toward race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or any other criteria deemed unlawful by state, federal, or local law. Amby Retail Corporation. will investigate each potential driver’s safety performance history and must have the required documentation as proof of the driver’s qualification and ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely before the individual is permitted to begin duty. Said documentation includes the following items:
1. Complete application for employment with the applicant’s signature (CDL holders
must provide their previous 10 years work history)
2. Applicant’s signed release and authorization for Amby Retail Corporation. to investigate the safety performance history, including controlled substance and alcohol history, of the individual from previous employers for the past three years
3. A current copy of the applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
4. Road test and certification or current, unexpired copy of the applicant’s Commercial Driver’s License
5. A current, unexpired copy of the applicant’s medical certificate and physical disqualification waiver letter, if applicable
6. Driver’s annual certificate of violations, completed and signed by the applicant
7. Driver’s statement of on-duty hours for the immediate preceding seven days before going on-duty for Amby Retail Corporation.
8. Negative pre-employment controlled substances test results
A driver, at the sole and absolute discretion of Amby Retail Corporation, is subject to immediate termination if he or she becomes uninsurable or increases Amby Retail Corporation’s insurance rates. A newly hired driver, at the sole and absolute discretion of Amby Retail Corporation, is subject to termination if false driving information is given at the time of employment/contract. Amby Retail Corporation will verify the driver’s certificate of violations given each year by obtaining a copy of the driver’s MVR.
NOTE: Amby Retail Corporation will not hire a prospective driver if he/she has been convicted of any of the following violations within the past five years:
1. Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
2. Reckless driving/speed contests
3. Hit and run accidents
4. Vehicular manslaughter/homicide
5. Leaving the scene of an accident
6. Failure to report an accident
7. Improper or erratic lane changing
8. Fleeing/eluding a police officer
9. Passing a stopped school bus
10.Speeding 15 miles or more per hour over the speed limit
11.Refusal to submit to an alcohol and/or drug test
12.Operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license
NOTE: Amby Retail Corporation will provide a driver with a written notice of a disqualification action and place a copy of the notification in the driver’s qualification file.
After passing the pre-employment physical examination, each driver must be re-certified
every two years or as deemed necessary due to a physical or mental impairment that
may interfere with the ability to perform normal duties according the established United
States Department of Transportation’s physical condition standards. Amby Retail Corporation will verify that the medical examiner listed on the driver’s medical card is registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to ensure validity.
Within the first thirty days of employment/contract, Amby Retail Corporation will use the driver’s signed release to investigate the driver’s controlled substances and alcohol testing history, as well as the driver’s overall driving performance history, with previous
companies. If this history shows a positive controlled substance or alcohol test result,
the driver will be eligible for immediate termination unless evidence of the completion of
a SAP (Substance Abuse Professionals) program and return-to-duty tests with the
previous company is provided.
If a driver is aware that he/she is in jeopardy of suspension or loss of his/her CDL,
he/she must immediately notify Amby Retail Corporation. Failure to do so is considered serious driver misconduct and could result in immediate termination of employment or
termination of the independent contractor agreement, if applicable. Drivers must also
report all warnings or tickets written to the driver to Amby Retail Corporation and arrange to pay the ticket before its due date or date of conviction. Failure to do so is considered serious driver misconduct and could result in termination of employment or termination of the independent contractor agreement, if applicable, at the sole and absolute discretion of Amby Retail Corporation.
If a driver receives an infraction associated with any of the following violations:
1. No medical certificate in driver’s possession
2. Expired medical certificate
The following corrective action measures will be executed:
First Offense: A written warning and training will be provided specific to the infraction
received.
Second Offense: A face-to-face meeting with management, up to a 5-day
disqualification period, and additional training will be provided specific to the infraction
received.
Third Offense: Written notice of possible termination of employment or termination of
the independent contractor agreement, if applicable, at the sole and absolute discretion
of Amby Retail Corporation.
If a driver is involved in an accident, post-accident testing is required under the following conditions. The following corrective action measures will be executed:
First Offense: A written warning and training will be provided specific to the infraction
received.
Second Offense: A face-to-face meeting with management, up to a 5-day
disqualification period and additional training will be provided specific to the infraction
received.
Third Offense: Written notice of possible termination of employment or termination of
the independent contractor agreement, if applicable, at the sole and absolute discretion
of Amby Retail Corporation.
All driver qualification files are required to be maintained for the duration of employment
and for three years after a driver leaves the company’s employ. The safety manager is
responsible for ensuring the files are properly maintained.

What i need to be elegible ?

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum 2 Years of tractor-trailer experience
  • Clean recurve from DUI & Major accidents
  • Minimum 25 years of age as our insurance require it.

How are our truck drivers paid?

Our over-the-road drivers are up to 60 cents-per-mile. There are many additional incentives offered in this jobs, like extra stop pay, layover pay, reset pay, detention etc.

How important is starting truck driver pay?

Keep in mind that there are always trade-offs with companies that offer particularly high or low starting salaries to new drivers. Know what you are looking for in a company before making starting salary your main criteria. Things like benefits and perks, flexible home time and route offerings, pet policies, Occupational Insurance, no touch loading / unloading, annual bonus programs etc., are all part of the decision making process and we offer it all.

What type of equipment will I have?

Particularly for long-haul work, “you want to be comfortable”. The company will assign you equipment that includes: air-ride suspension and a sleeper on the truck, microwave, refrigerator, power invertor. Since you will be spending most of your time within this equipment, we will make sure you can live with it comfortably.

Do you pay for lumpers?

We have no-touch-to-driver policy, you do not need to load or unload the freight of your truck or pay a lumper to do it – the company / broker will pay. 

Do you offer bonuses?

We offer bonuses for a good driving record and performance. In addition to our annual bonus program

Will I get a dedicated driver manager?

Having a direct manager to work with can foster a good company relationship, enhance your promotion chances and help you resolve concerns and issues quickly. Our Diver manager Alex will guide you through everything you need.
